Overview
What Is ISO 22000?
ISO 22000 is the international standard for a food safety management system. It combines HACCP, prerequisite programmes (hygiene basics) and a management system, so food safety is planned, checked and improved.
Any business in the food chain can use it, from farms and factories to packaging, transport and restaurants.
Current version: ISO 22000:2018, with Amendment 1:2024 adding climate change points. ISO is drafting a new edition, and we'll help you move to it when it's out.

Which version of ISO 22000 is current?
ISO 22000:2018 is the current version, along with Amendment 1:2024 on climate action. A new edition is being drafted by ISO.
How long is an ISO 22000 certificate valid?
Three years, with a surveillance audit every year by the certification body.
What is the difference between ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000?
FSSC 22000 is built on ISO 22000 and adds sector PRPs and extra requirements. FSSC 22000 is GFSI-recognised; ISO 22000 on its own is not.
